Black Diamond – Negro Leagues Art & Artifacts by Darryl Matthews
3400 N Wesleyan Blvd, in Rocky Mount
This special Negro Leagues Baseball Art Exhibit is a tribute to artist Darryl Matthews’ father, Fran Matthews, who played parts of 14 seasons in the Negro Leagues, mostly with the Newark Eagles, where his teammates included Hall of Famers Roy Campanella, Monte Irvin and Leon Day.
More than 30 original works, including Negro Leagues legends Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and of course, Baseball’s Greatest Gentleman, Buck Leonard will be on display in the Gravely Gallery at North Carolina Wesleyan University’s Dunn Center for the Perfoming Arts.
Stay tuned for more information regarding an opening night reception on September 22nd!
