BL-ASHE: Looking to the Greater Community
BL-ASHE is looking to the greater baseball community to help promote and sustain the deeds and accomplishments of those pathfinder-players such as Buck Leonard, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell and Jackie Robinson who possessed the mental fortitude, perseverance and insight to “Wait on America”.
Indeed, Jackie Robinson possessed the strength to endure and to lead the nation to a better place where professional baseball clubs were forced to take note and move toward the active recruitment of Negro (League) players. Jackie Robinson’s power and servitude is magnified by the hundreds of Negro/black players who played the game of baseball before, during and after Jackie Robinson.
“Anyone who possesses strength --has the power to hurt as well as to serve…” (On Becoming a Servant Leader, Frick & Spears, 1990)
